General information

Prasonisi is a unique kitesurfing destination in Europe where you can learn to kitesurf, wavesurf, or even get your feet wet in the waves. Offshore, you can practice freestyle tricks. In short, this spot challenges everyone!
Surface & safety

The spot is large and well-organized, with a sandy beach.
On the onshore side of the spot, you’ll find some rocks on the sides, but in the middle, you can expect mostly sand with a gradually sloping bottom.
The offshore side gets deeper more quickly and has no obstacles in the water.
Wind conditions

Prasonisi experiences almost 300 wind days per year, with more than 20 wind days per month. From May to the end of October, the average wind is 15/25 knots. Crowds

The spot is busiest in July/August.
The other months are great for kiting, with plenty of room to progress.
Before noon and after 4:00 PM, it’s often very quiet.

Access & Launch Zones

There are designated kite zones where you can launch and land. These are clearly marked with flags and signs.

(Wing) Foiling

This spot is also perfect for foiling. Stay in the center so you don’t end up on the rocks on the side of the spot.
Winging is also becoming very popular here.

Prasonisi Onshore

On the onshore side of Prasonisi, everything comes together: a constant Meltemi wind, rolling waves, and a dynamic sea that invites action.

This side of the spot is perfect for kiters who want to gain experience in the waves, ride strapless, or use the waves for higher jumps.

The surface is sandy, with a gently sloping bottom.

Takeoffs and landings are done in designated kite zones to keep the spot organized and safe.

Prasonisi offshore

The offshore side of Prasonisi is legendary. Here, the wind blows off the land, creating mirror-smooth water. A dream for all kitesurfers who want to try their hand at freeride/freestyle tricks. This side is also perfect for learning to kite in calm conditions.

The offshore side is closed to independent kitesurfers between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Lessons are provided all day on this side of the spot, in conjunction with a rescue boat.

Theologos / Kremasti

Theologos is located on the west coast of Rhodes, close to the airport, and is often mentioned as an accessible kitesurfing spot on the island.

Compared to Prasonisi, it’s a bit of a step down.

The spot is known for its rougher conditions. Choppy water, a strong shorebreak, and a rocky/pebble bottom upon entry. The water is immediately deep, so you should take this into account when launching and landing.

Theologos is definitely a kitesurfing spot, but we don’t recommend it as a destination for our guests. Those looking for more variety, more comfortable conditions, and a true kitesurfing experience will find Prasonisi to be a much better choice.
