Flight tips & Transfer
In general, you’ll find the lowest fares to Málaga, with frequent direct flights operated by low-cost carriers. Seville has slightly fewer connections, but depending on your travel date, good deals can sometimes be cheaper.
Arrival is scheduled for 22 February. From both airports, it’s approximately a 2-hour drive to our destination. That’s why we recommend coordinating flights in the group chat. This makes it easy to share a car or arrange a rental together and split costs.

Tarifa is world-famous as the wind capital of Europe. Sitting on the narrow Strait of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, it delivers wind almost all year round – over 300 days a year.

First time travelling with KiteActive to Sicily. I’ve had a really great time. Even if i can kite already and do some tricks here and there, the instructors gave some nice tips and newer tricks to practice on. The kitespots were spot on!
On no-wind days there was always something organized, wakeboarding behind the boat, another boat trip and snorkeling, going to an old city, etcetera, and you also have the freedom to explore at your own pace.
You’re also not alone, staying with an collected group at the place which makes it more pleasant!

Yallah habibi, what an epic week this was! Just got back from Egypt after my second kite holiday with KiteActive — and once again, absolutely worth repeating!
The spot is amazing: you can walk straight from your hotel room onto the (kite) beach. The collaboration with Kitelagoon Hurghada was top-notch — we were fully taken care of (pumping kites, launching and landing, chill tunes on the beach, warm tea during breaks). Everything was perfectly arranged by KiteActive as well — from a group chat and quick replies to any questions, to thinking along about boardbags and capturing awesome (action) shots!
We also had such a fun group (which of course KiteActive can’t fully control), but it made the week even better. On the — luckily only two — windless days, we went wakeboarding, snorkeling, and just enjoyed the resort to the fullest. Under the always cheerful (and super experienced) supervision of Roderick, this week was not only super fun but also incredibly educational — what a legend he is!
Beginner or advanced: I recommend going on a trip with KiteActive to everyone — you won’t regret it 🙂 Let’s go!

I never kited on sea, can I join?
The sea in Tarifa can be really rough at times. But you have to get through it eventually. If you’d like to learn how to kitesurf at sea, you’ve come to the right place and can book this trip. It’s important that you already have plenty of experience on calm water. Otherwise, you’ll be doing yourself a disservice.
Which flight / airport?
There are tons of flights. Most fly to Malaga, which is a two-hour drive from Tarifa. You can also fly to Seville or Jerez, both also two hours away. On average, a flight during this period costs between €100 and €200, excluding boardbag. It’s easy to rent a car at the airport (starting at €7 per day), and in the group chat, you can share the car with other participants to minimize costs and maximize fun.
Do you need an car?
Yes, you definitely need a car in Tarifa. All kitesurfing spots are often a 10- to 30-minute drive away. You can easily rent one through www.carjet.com at your airport or share a car with someone in a group chat.
Which material to bring?
EVERYTHING! Definitely small kites when the Levante is coming through, but also larger ones when the Poniente isn’t really coming through. Foils, waveboards, all the toys have to come! Don’t feel like lugging them around? We have premium test gear from Core available. Even wingfoil gear if you’d like to try it out. You can always rent a set too.
