You’ll share a kite set together for the entire week, so you can help each other and learn from one another. Kitesurfing is quite intense in the beginning, and it’s great to have a buddy on the water. You’ll be taught by our certified top instructors – in your own language and by real kite professionals with over 10 years of experience in the sport!

- Body-drag techniques to gain confidence and understand the power of the wind.
- Preparing for the water start: board positioning, balance, and riding your first meters.
- Learning how to fall safely, release your equipment, and always keep enough distance.
- First exercises with the board: riding straight lines and building board control.
- Understanding wind, tides, and spot awareness – the foundation for safe choices on the water.
- Understanding kitesurf etiquette: rules on the water and respect for fellow kiters.

You’ll build the skills and confidence to kitesurf your first meters independently and safely, and be ready for the next step in your progression.

The kitesurf roadmap of this course
Step by step to the next level!
Set-up / Pack-down of your kite (equipment) knowledge
Learn how to rig your kite and get to know all about your equipment: bar extensions, line lengths, different systems, kite types, and more.
Starting and landing the kite
Perhaps the most important part of your training: learn to launch independently and land safely on the beach.
Safety / self rescue
Various safety systems are explained, emergency situations are discussed, and a step-by-step plan is created so you can always rescue yourself and get to safety.
Theory & Rules
What about right of way rules? How does the weather affect you? Which kite size should you use for different wind strengths? What do you need to be aware of? Plenty to discuss during our group theory session.
Kite control
You can never practice this enough – 80% of kitesurfing is kite control, and during the course we dedicate plenty of time to it.
Bodydraggen
Upwind body dragging
What happens if you lose your board? You’ll learn how to safely retrieve your board or reach the shore by dragging against the wind. It’s also great practice for flying the kite with one hand.
Downwind body dragging
Get to know the power zone and steer the kite through the entire wind window to generate as much power as possible. A super fun exercise!
Spot analysis
Every kitespot is different, every forecast is different. We’ll teach you what to look out for when you want to go kiting on your own.
Relaunching your kite
In strong wind it’s easy to relaunch your kite – but can you also manage it in lighter wind?
Waterstarts
If everything goes well, we finally arrive at the water start! This is where we get you up on the board.
Independend practise
Towards the end of the course, we focus strongly on independence. Sometimes we’ll let you practice on your own (together with your fellow student) so you can help each other and train independently.
FAQ
Can’t find your question here? Get in touch with us!
What happens after 9 hours of lessons?
You’ll continue practicing independently with another kiter. At our destinations the wind usually blows all day, giving everyone plenty of time to spend hours on the water.
Can I get a private kite after 9 hours?
Our packages are generally set up so that in the beginning you’ll share a kite with someone else. Why? Because in the early stages you can help and learn a lot from each other. This way you save on expensive lesson hours, since after 9 hours you’re often not fully independent yet. If we see that you’re progressing faster than the rest and there happens to be an extra kite set available, we’re not strict – you can use one of ours! We always do our best to get everyone on the water as much as possible.
Want your own kite set after those 9 hours and your instructor agrees that your level is good enough? Then you can rent your own kite set for just €30/day extra.
Am I Insured?
During this course you are not insured. Check if your travel insurance covers kitesurfing or ask us to help you arrange the right insurance!
We strongly recommend checking your travel insurance carefully to see if it covers extreme sports – to avoid disappointment and hassle during your holiday. We work together with Sportzeker, so you’ll always be fully covered!
Can I use unlimited kite gear?
In principle, yes – if the instructor decides the conditions are suitable for your level, you can take and test all sizes of the latest gear.
