Our team has been coming to Brazil for more than 17 years and knows the routes in detail. Together with experienced drivers we’ve continuously optimized the downwinder route for over 17 years, making it safer and better every season.

Our team is professionally trained in safety and rescues. This combination of route knowledge, local expertise, experience, knowing the very best spots, and active safety support makes our downwinder fundamentally different from other operators.

Below is a practical packing list for Brazil (Fortaleza / Cumbuco region).
Expect warm temperatures, lots of sun and wind, and (depending on your plans) beach days, downwinders and road trips.
This list is tailored to kitesurfing, travel and everyday comfort.

  • Passport (check validity and any visa/entry requirements)

Downwinding in Brazil isn’t just a kitesurf adventure — it’s also a culinary trip. Along the coast you’ll taste the pure flavors of Brazilian cuisine: fresh fish often caught the very same morning, simple but flavorful dishes with rice, beans and tropical vegetables.

Need a refresh? There’s always something along the way: an ice-cold coconut straight from the shell, or a stop at one of the many cozy beach bars. That’s where you’ll find Brazil’s most famous cocktail — the Caipirinha — perfect to end a day full of wind, waves and sun.

And during the downwinders, the KiteActive team always provides snacks and drinks on the road, so your energy stays up until the next stop.

Delta Adventure — 9 days

Start dates 2026: 05 Nov

The Adventure Downwinder isn’t just a trip — this is off-grid kiting through the rugged landscape of the impressive Parnaíba Delta, one of the largest deltas in the world. You’ll travel through a wild and unique area where nature and adventure meet. The finish? Arpoador — the wild west on the edge of the planet. This unforgettable adventure is unique in every way and exclusively for experienced kiters.

Mega Adventure São Luís — 14 days

Start dates 2026: 05 Nov

For the first time ever, we’re launching this epic route through the northeast of Brazil. From the dunes and lagoons of Jericoacoara we head straight through the untouched Parnaíba Delta — a maze of rivers, mangroves and deserted beaches.

We stay in Atins, where life moves slowly and sunsets are legendary. Then the adventure gets rougher, ending in São Luís: Brazil’s reggae capital, full of rhythm, culture and raw energy.

Kitefest Baleia — 11 days

The route is the same as the Explore.

What makes this trip unique is the mega kitesurf festival in Baleia that we organize for the entire kite community that’s in Brazil at that time. Expect group sessions on the water, strong beach vibes, music and an energy you only feel when everything comes together.

If you want, we can pick you up from Fortaleza airport. Let us know in advance and share your flight details on time.

For the Explore, Adventure & XXL downwinders in Brazil, you can check in on the day the downwinder starts at our KiteActive pousada. We spend 1 night together in Cumbuco to get to know each other and do our first downwinder. The next morning we continue towards our destination.

PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to stay multiple nights with us in Cumbuco (or Jericoacoara), please contact us and ask about the options.
