Snowkite
Pallas is one of the most unique snowkite areas in the world. Located in the heart of the Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park, you’ll find endless white plains, soft powder snow, and rolling hills that create perfect natural playgrounds.
What makes Pallas so special? The variety! From flat terrain where beginners can safely ride their first meters to challenging slopes and mountain faces for the experienced rider. Add the steady Lapland wind and the chance to see the Northern Lights, and you’ve got a snowkite experience like nowhere else.
Weather & Wind
In March, Pallas is a true paradise for snowkiters. The area benefits from the steady Lapland winds that sweep freely over the vast plains and fells of the Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park.
The conditions are ideal: stable wind, plenty of space, and a thick layer of powder snow that often lasts well into spring. Temperatures usually range between -5°C and -15°C, with chances of bright sunny days — and of course the magical Northern Lights.
Important to know: wind forecasts are often inaccurate here because of the unique mountain microclimate. Thanks to our local snowkite guides, we know exactly where to find the right wind each day — so you’re always guaranteed perfect sessions.

Everything was super well arranged, the food was absolutely amazing, and the vibes were super chill. We had great wind conditions, and the progression sessions were epic.

Yallah habibi, what an epic week this was! Just got back from Egypt after my second kite holiday with KiteActive — and once again, absolutely worth repeating!
The spot is amazing: you can walk straight from your hotel room onto the (kite) beach. The collaboration with Kitelagoon Hurghada was top-notch — we were fully taken care of (pumping kites, launching and landing, chill tunes on the beach, warm tea during breaks). Everything was perfectly arranged by KiteActive as well — from a group chat and quick replies to any questions, to thinking along about boardbags and capturing awesome (action) shots!
We also had such a fun group (which of course KiteActive can’t fully control), but it made the week even better. On the — luckily only two — windless days, we went wakeboarding, snorkeling, and just enjoyed the resort to the fullest. Under the always cheerful (and super experienced) supervision of Roderick, this week was not only super fun but also incredibly educational — what a legend he is!
Beginner or advanced: I recommend going on a trip with KiteActive to everyone — you won’t regret it 🙂 Let’s go!

Wat een mooie ervaring. Na een aantal lessen in Nederland heb ik tijdens mijn Kite Acitve vakantie op Sicilie de eindjes aan elkaar kunnen knopen. Van de 6 dagen hebben we 5 dagen op het water gestaan. Goede begeleiding, heerlijk eten en een prachtige locatie direct aan de Kite spot. Ik ga zeker dit jaar nog een keer met ze mee, dit keer naar Brazilië, die bekend staat om zijn down winders. Dit smaakt naar meer!

In Pallas it’s about more than just kiting: you become part of a tight snowkite community.
Together with a group of like-minded riders at your level, we head out every day. Our
local snowkite guides know the area inside out and are key to our success.
Pallas has a microclimate, which means wind apps like Windfinder are often unreliable. That’s why we check conditions every day and
choose the best spot together — so we’re always in the right place with the right wind.
We also focus on progression and coaching to help your skills grow every single day.
Every evening we make plans together for the next day. After a full day in the snow we enjoy good food,
share stories, do video analysis and give tips to help you improve.
No wind? No problem! Pallas is located in the middle of a national park and offers endless possibilities:
cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing or simply relaxing in the sauna. And with a bit of luck
the magical Northern Lights will light up the sky.

Our goal is to help you make as much progress and have as much fun as possible. This trip is suitable for all levels — even if you’ve never kited before or have no board or ski experience. Pallas is a super accessible place for everyone to get started, thanks to its wide open plains, soft snow, and steady wind.

Kitegear rental
For snowkiting, it’s useful to have specific snowkite gear, such as suitable kites and a harness that fits comfortably over thick winter clothing. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything: during the info night we’ll explain exactly what’s handy to bring and what to look out for.
Need something extra on the spot or want to try something new? No problem — you can always rent extra gear from our partners. This way you’ll have the right equipment for the conditions and get the most out of your snowkite adventure.
Our conditions
Make sure to indicate your correct level when booking. Unfortunately, we can’t control the wind. If you can’t complete your package, you can settle the remaining balance with us in different ways:
- Use the remaining balance in our webshop for (kite) gear
- Use it for another KiteActive trip or give it as a gift card to friends
- Complete the package at one of our schools in the Netherlands

Not all insurance companies cover kitesurf equipment.
Participation in our packages is always at your own risk. Kitesurfing is an extreme sport, and although we ensure you learn in the safest way possible, you must always stay aware of yourself and others. Always listen carefully to the instructions from our team.
