Kite
What makes Baleia so unique is that it’s still an undiscovered bay in Brazil. Leave the crowds of Cumbuco behind and arrive in a small fishing village with epic kite conditions and… Rafa’s secret lagoon! Eat.Sleep.Kite.Repeat.
Weather & Wind
In Baleia you can pretty much rely on the wind with your eyes closed. From July to January the famous Alísios trade winds blow here. This thermal wind is powered up every day by the temperature difference between land and sea: calm in the morning, pumping from lunchtime, and often super steady until sunset. That’s why Baleia is one of the most wind-secure kitesurf spots in the world – sessions are almost guaranteed.
The water is warm all year round, so you can ride in just boardshorts or a bikini. But don’t underestimate the sun: in Brazil it’s strong and high, especially during long kite days. A lycra isn’t a luxury – it’s a must.
Pro Tip: grab one from KiteActive and you’ll be protected and stylish on the water during your kitesurf holiday Brazil.

The Trip
Go with the flow
As a kitesurfer you live with the wind, the waves, and the tides. That’s exactly how it goes during our trips. You go with the flow. And with us, the flow is always… The Wind!
During the Baleia Camps you’ll stay 7 or 14 nights in a comfortable pousada, right on the beach. Want to stay longer? Extra nights are always possible.
Every morning a fresh breakfast is prepared by our private chef – think tropical fruits, eggs, bread, and authentic Brazilian dishes. From the breakfast table you can stroll through the garden straight to the beach. The wind usually picks up around 10:00, so you decide whether to hit the water right away or relax in a hammock a little longer.
For beginners, our instructor creates a tailor-made schedule, fully adapted to wind and tides. Advanced riders can choose daily: kite right in front of the pousada or join a downwinder to Mundau or Icarai de Amontada. The wind is almost always steady between 18 and 25 knots, and no wetsuit needed here.
After a full day on the water, there’s plenty of time to relax – in the garden, on the beach, or with a caipirinha in hand. This camp is the perfect balance of action and pure relaxation, making it the ultimate kitesurf holiday Brazil.

Questions?
Got a question? We’ve selected a few of the most frequently asked ones for you.
Which material to bring?
The wind always blows at least 16 knots and often even harder, around 20 knots. In the afternoon, the wind sometimes drops a bit, so it’s also a good idea to bring larger sizes. The golden rule: bring all the wing sizes you have!
What is the level?
All our downwinders require a minimum level of 4. You must be an independent and confident kitesurfer who can manage on your own.
Is this trip for beginners?
Absolutely, one of the very best destinations to learn kitesurfing thanks to the private lagoon that is always calm and undiscovered!
Can I make my first downwinders?
Certainly, this trip is especially designed for people who want to start downwinding or improve their skills!
Do you also organize extra overnight stays outside of this trip?
Absolutely! We have a wealth of experience in Brazil, so with a few good questions, we’ll know exactly where you’ll want to stay for a few days before or after your trip! We especially recommend our Baleia camps, as they offer everything in one!
Recommended flights?
From Europe, KLM or FlyTAP are good options. It will roughly cost you between €800 and €1200 round-trip.
How is the group?
Our groups consist of enthusiastic kiters aged 25 to 65. This trip is designed for experienced kiters, so you’ll always travel with like-minded people who share the same passion. More and more women are joining our trips, and we strive for a good 50/50 gender split.
