The Explore – 8 nights
The Explore Downwinder in Brazil is perfect for kiters who are just starting with downwinders. The stages are short, and our 4×4 jeep drives along the beach almost the entire way, so you can always take a break or hop in. Along the route you’ll experience the best of Brazil’s coastline: powerful waves, breathtaking nature, and as the cherry on top — the party vibes of Jericoacoara. We’ve been running this trip every winter for over 15 years, and it’s still an unforgettable adventure every time!
The Adventure – 11 nights
The Adventure Downwinder is not just a trip — it’s kiting off-grid through the wild landscapes of the stunning Parnaíba Delta, one of the largest deltas in the world. You’ll ride through a raw and unique region where nature and adventure collide. The finish line? Atins — the wild west at the edge of the planet. This unforgettable journey is unique in every way and exclusively for experienced kiters. An experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
THE XXL Downwinder in Brazil – 18 nights

First time travelling with KiteActive to Sicily. I’ve had a really great time. Even if i can kite already and do some tricks here and there, the instructors gave some nice tips and newer tricks to practice on. The kitespots were spot on!
On no-wind days there was always something organized, wakeboarding behind the boat, another boat trip and snorkeling, going to an old city, etcetera, and you also have the freedom to explore at your own pace.
You’re also not alone, staying with an collected group at the place which makes it more pleasant!

Everything was super well arranged, the food was absolutely amazing, and the vibes were super chill. We had great wind conditions, and the progression sessions were epic.

Yallah habibi, what an epic week this was! Just got back from Egypt after my second kite holiday with KiteActive — and once again, absolutely worth repeating!
The spot is amazing: you can walk straight from your hotel room onto the (kite) beach. The collaboration with Kitelagoon Hurghada was top-notch — we were fully taken care of (pumping kites, launching and landing, chill tunes on the beach, warm tea during breaks). Everything was perfectly arranged by KiteActive as well — from a group chat and quick replies to any questions, to thinking along about boardbags and capturing awesome (action) shots!
We also had such a fun group (which of course KiteActive can’t fully control), but it made the week even better. On the — luckily only two — windless days, we went wakeboarding, snorkeling, and just enjoyed the resort to the fullest. Under the always cheerful (and super experienced) supervision of Roderick, this week was not only super fun but also incredibly educational — what a legend he is!
Beginner or advanced: I recommend going on a trip with KiteActive to everyone — you won’t regret it 🙂 Let’s go!

For the Explore, Adventure & XXL downwinders in Brazil you can check in at our KiteActive pousada on the day your downwinder starts. We’ll spend one night together in Cumbuco to get to know each other and do our first downwinder. The next morning we ride towards our final destination.
NOTE: If you’d like to stay extra nights in Cumbuco (or Jericoacoara), please contact us to ask about the possibilities.

Make sure to indicate your correct level when booking. Unfortunately, we can’t control the wind. If you can’t complete your package, you can settle the remaining balance with us in different ways:
- Use the remaining balance in our webshop for (kite) gear
- Use it for another KiteActive trip or give it as a gift card to friends
- Complete the package at one of our schools in the Netherlands

Not all insurance companies cover kitesurf equipment.
Participation in our packages is always at your own risk. Kitesurfing is an extreme sport, and although we ensure you learn in the safest way possible, you must always stay aware of yourself and others. Always listen carefully to the instructions from our team.

Do you have a question? We’ve selected a few frequently asked questions for you.
What is the level?
All our downwinders require a minimum level of 4. You must be an independent and confident kitesurfer who can manage on your own.
Do you also organize extra overnight stays outside of this trip?
Absolutely! We have a wealth of experience in Brazil, so with a few good questions, we’ll know exactly where you’ll want to stay for a few days before or after your trip! We especially recommend our Baleia camps, as they offer everything in one!
Which material
The wind always blows at least 16 knots and often even harder, around 20 knots. In the afternoon, the wind sometimes drops a bit, so it’s also a good idea to bring larger sizes. The golden rule: bring all the wing sizes you own! TIP: You can also rent the latest CORE equipment from us. That way, you don’t have to drag anything along and you have top-notch gear 🙂
When does an downwinder end or start
For the Explore & Adventure (& XXL) downwinders, you can check in at our KiteActive pousada in Cumbuco Kite & Soul on the day listed on the website (around 2:00 PM). We’ll gather there with the entire group, enjoy a delicious meal that evening, and depart early the next morning on the downwinder to our first overnight location.
The final stop is either in Jericoacoara or Atins. From here, our jeeps will return to our starting destination, Cumbuco. We can drop you off somewhere along the way, if you’d like.
BIG TIP: If you’d like, you can arrive a few days early to get used to the location and conditions and to overcome jet lag.
Recommended flights?
From Europe, KLM or FlyTAP are good options. It will roughly cost you between €800 and €1200 round-trip.
How is the group?
Our groups consist of enthusiastic kiters aged 25 to 65. This trip is designed for experienced kiters, so you’ll always travel with like-minded people who share the same passion. More and more women are joining our trips, and we strive for a good 50/50 gender split.
