Kitespot guide – Kenia
27th September, 2025
Kenya is a hidden gem for kiters: endless white sandy beache…
Weather & Wind
Kenya is blessed with two constant trade winds that deliver perfect kite conditions all year round. From December to March, the Kaskazi blows — a steady northeasterly wind that brings warm, sunny days and ideal conditions for long downwinders. From June to September, the Kusi arrives — a powerful southerly wind that lights up the ocean with clean reef waves and glassy flat water in the sheltered lagoons.
Thanks to the tropical climate, it’s always warm here: you’ll kite in just your boardshorts or bikini. With an average of 15–25 knots of wind and plenty of sunshine, every session feels like a dream. Whether you’re chasing flat water for freestyle or long rides over ocean swells, the wind in Kenya rarely disappoints. 🌬️🌞🌊

Questions?
Do you have a question? We’ve selected a few frequently asked questions for you.
Do i need vaccinations
Make sure you have completed all vaccinations with your doctor. If you are coming from the EU, a yellow fever vaccination is not required, but it is if you are coming from other destinations. Regardless of the length of your stay, the following vaccinations are recommended for Tanzania: vaccination against DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, and polio), vaccination against hepatitis A (infectious jaundice), and a vaccination against yellow fever. If you have not had a measles vaccination, an MMR vaccination is recommended for Tanzania. Tip: Make an appointment with your local Municipal Health Service (GGD) or GP in a timely manner (some vaccinations take a week to become effective). More information can be found at http://www.vaccinatiesopreis.nl/inentingen-tanzania/
Do I need an VISA?
Yes, but you have to buy this at the airport for $50. So always make sure you have enough dollars with you when you arrive at the airport. This will save you a lot of time.
